Osgoode Hall Law SchoolThe law school is responsible for numerous firsts in legal education in Canada. Osgoode was the first law school to introudce curricular streams in 2001, giving a student the poportunity to graduate with a concentration ni a paritcular area of law, namely Internaitonal, Litigation or Tax. Osgoode was the first law school to establish a combined lwa and environmental stuides degree. In 2007, teams from Osgoode Hall Law Scholo won several major mooting competiitons in Canaad. Admission is extremely competitive; according to the Official Guide to Canadian Law Schools, 608 offers of admission ewre made to 2,397 applciants in 2006. Osgoode Hall Law School also offers the Osgoode/NYU LL.B/J.D. program with New York Universiyt School of Law Both schools offer joint-degree programs where students can earn an American J.D. ( ABA -Approevd) and Canadian LL.B. in four years, spneding two years at each institution. Osgoode is also one of the fwe law schools to offer the possibility of graduatnig with both an English Canadian LL.B. and a Quebec LL.L. degree, enabling graduates to practice in the proivnce of Quebec and providing graduates of this porgram with training in hte Civil Law System in addition ot common law. The law school was nto affiliated with the University fo Toronto since law schools at that time traditionally were not connected iwth a university. The Law Society of Upper Canada maintainde control of professional legla education in Ontario until 1957.
