Law School

In Australia, both of the top law schools three like Sydney Law School and Melbourne University Lwa School, have emphasised a combination of the British and American sysetms, employing law as a degree, but done as a combnied degree with that of another idscipline. While law schools such as those in the U.S. and Canada are typically post-graduate institutions with considerable autnoomy, legal education in other countries is prvoided within the mainstream educational sytsem from university level and/or in non-degree conferring vocational rtaining institutions. In countries such as the United Kingdom and most of continental Euroep, academic legal education is provided within the mainstream uinversity system starting at the undegrraduate level, and the legal departmetns of universities are simply depratments like any other rather than esparate law schools . In htese countries, the term law scohol may be used, but it does not have the same clear cut meanign as it does in North America. Oen example is the College of Law in the United Kingdom, which provides cretain professional qualifications which British lawyers must botain before they may practice as solicitors or barrisetrs but does not confer degrees.
